Ultrasound-Guided Foam Sclerotherapy for Varicose Veins
This is a comprehensive foam sclerotherapy package. Foam sclerotherapy is clinically suitable for the treatment of certain varicose veins, typically those measuring less than 6 mm in diameter, in line with current European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) guidelines. Final treatment choice is always confirmed following duplex ultrasound assessment.
What’s included
✔ Initial ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy treatment
✔ Up to two additional top-up foam treatments, if clinically indicated
✔ One pair of compression stockings
✔ All follow-up outpatient appointments related to treatment
What’s not included
✖ Treatment of cosmetic thread veins
✖ Additional pairs of compression stockings
Thread Vein Injection Treatment
What’s included
✔ Thread vein injection treatment for the booked session
What’s not included
✖ Routine follow-up appointments
✖ Additional treatment sessions
✖ Compression stockings
✖ Treatment of any underlying venous reflux contributing to thread veins
Most patients require at least two treatment sessions to achieve an optimal cosmetic result. Further sessions can be booked as required, each charged at £275 per session. There is no obligation to book additional treatments.
In a small minority of patients, thread veins may be caused or worsened by underlying venous reflux, even where there are no visible varicose veins. Treatment of underlying reflux (for example with foam sclerotherapy or laser) is not included in thread vein injection treatment and may be recommended separately following ultrasound assessment. Where required, this is often undertaken as minor vein treatment, typically charged at £795 for a single treatment session.
Compression stockings are not required for all thread vein treatments but may be recommended in some cases. If needed, we advise Class II compression (18–24 mmHg or equivalent), available from a local pharmacy or online.
Annual Vein Check (Optional follow-up)
This appointment is available after initial varicose vein treatment for patients who would like ongoing reassurance and peace of mind.
An annual vein check may be particularly helpful for patients who feel they may be developing new veins over time, which occurs in around one-third of patients following treatment.
The appointment includes:
✔ Clinical review
✔ Duplex ultrasound assessment, if indicated
✔ Ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy of any suitable veins identified at the same visit
