Cyanoacrylate Glue (Sapheon Venaseal™)

Rob Windhaber was one of the first specialists in the UK to be trained in the use of Sapheon -cyanoacrylate glue to treat varicose veins and also one of the first to use it.

Although using glue for the treatment of varicose veins is a relatively new procedure medical superglue has been widely used for over 50 years. The Venaseal™ procedure is done by passing a fine catheter up the vein and then injecting tiny amounts of glue to stick the vein closed.

The main advantage of this procedure is that it requires fewer injections than endothermal ablation procedures. Whilst early results are promising we do not yet know what the long-term results are for this treatment and so currently its use is reserved for specific individual cases.
